Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Operations Management

Course Overview :

The Pearson Level 5 HND in Operation Management qualification is a UK accredited course which is internationally recognized. The HND is a modular Business programme equivalent to the first two years of a degree and with one year of extra study at a UK University it can become a BA Honors Degree. We offer a selection of Full time and E learning courses through various UK Universities, which you can access once you have completed your level 5 HND. This qualification is a foundation course, aimed at students who would like a good knowledge of all Operation Management aspects.

Units: Learner must complete 6 mandatory units and 2 optional units from level 4. Likewise, learner must complete 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units from level 5. Total 14 units need to complete. As the HND is part of the Qualifications and Framework (RQF), it has transferable credits of a minimum of 240. Guided learning hour is 960.

Entry Requirements :

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in business and other related Level 3 qualifications
  • A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as math’s and English.
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
  • Related work experience
  • Age 16 + and an international equivalent of the above.

Quality Assurance :

Pearson’s quality assurance system for all Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma programmes is benchmarked on the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ). This will ensure that centre have effective quality assurance processes to review programme delivery. It will also ensure that the outcomes of assessment are to national standards.

 The quality assurance process for centers offering Pearson BTEC Higher National programmes comprise five key components:

  2. Monitoring of internal centre systems
  3. Independent assessment reviews
  4. Annual programme monitoring report
  5. Annual student surveys

Qualification Frameworks :

Pearson BTEC HND level 5 are designated higher education qualifications in the UK. They are aligned to the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Subject Benchmark Statements. These qualifications are part of the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Course Materials :

Course materials, including presentations, handouts, assignment briefs, and e-books are made available to enrolled learners. In addition to this, the learners will also receive the course handbook and tutorial via emails, in order to support the learning.

Books:

Index Learning will provide printed books for certain units and these can be ordered by the learners at the start of the course at an additional cost. These are from selected Publisher and are discounted for enrolled learners. These are available for selected units only.

Online Learning:
The learner sets their own pace for their learning and the courses are offered on an academic year basis. Although our tutors encourage the learners to make progress monthly, this approach is flexible. Index learning will provide one year free British Council library membership for enrolled students and other online materials will be provided.

Progression Routes:

Learners who complete this qualification can progress to study a variety of bachelor’s degrees at a university such as one of our partner universities
